How Can I Increase My Spanish Vocabulary
Do you want to increase your Spanish vocabulary? What works for your best friend in expanding the number of Spanish words you know might not work for you, and vice versa ââ¬â but something will. So here are 10 suggestions made by readers of this site: Try one or more out and see if the work for you. Use Spanish Words Actively There was an English vocabulary-building program (I think it was a feature in a long-ago magazine) whose slogan was Use a word three times and it is yours. And I think that is the key ââ¬â its why your vocabulary increases when you are in certain environments, for there you dont just receive the words passively, but use them actively. Since you may not often be in such environments, perhaps inventing sentences that contain the new words would help. Or maybe you could look for opportunities to use the new words, like talking about the seasons or whatever new topic you have learned about, even if it means talking to yourself. Use New Spanish Words Right Away I really dont think there are many tricks ... you basically have to slodge through the memory process. I have a German friend living here who has come to speak Spanish enough to get along very well. One of his tricks is when he comes across a new word in conversation, he will use it two or three times within the next 20 minutes. Sometimes what he comes up with seems a bit forced, but I think it really helps him to plant the word in his head. Of course, the larger your English vocabulary the easier it will be since you can find more cognates. And your vocabulary within the sphere of your professional or social life will always be much larger than your average vocabulary. What I mean is, sitting here right now without thinking, I would have no idea how to say piston ring in Spanish (and I really dont care) simply because I have nothing to do with engines, except to use one to get around, on a day-to-day basis. But I suppose I could get around it if I had to by trying to describe it with vocabulary I do know, and eventually the mechanic will tell me what it is. But isnt that true of English also? Write to Others in Spanish Thinking in Spanish and simultaneously translating it and using it all the time helps me. I learned Portuguese because I wrote to about 20 people a day. When you write to 20 different people, just as if you were to talk to them, youd be talking about a lot of different things and using a lot of different words, and thus increasingly your vocabulary without even thinking about it. Whats really cool is the thing works. Find an Email Partner Another oldie-but-goodie idea: email practice partners. I think that if you can find a Spanish-speaking English student whose English is on par with your Spanish and whose motivation and ability to commit time is similar to yours ââ¬â for me that has worked as well as anything. My experience was that it wasnt as difficult to find someone like that for e-mail exchange as it was to find someone to practice with in person. If you cant find that situation, trying to keep a journal in Spanish might serve somewhat the same purpose. Read Newspapers and Magazines Online Reading is good too. But for building vocabulary, it is better to be reading from newspapers, magazines and literature (this can also give you cultural insights you dont get from textbooks). There is a lot of Spanish-language literature and there are a lot of Spanish language newspapers and magazines online. Native Speakers Glad To Help I have a few penpals that I write to. One in particular I have written to for about five years and he has helped me a great deal. Some of them are learning English and I can help them as well. I would not have gotten as far as I have had it not been for these good people taking the time to help me. Sometimes there are things that they cant really answer, but just being able to write freely to them has been great. Not only have I learned a lot about Spanish but also about their country and culture. Reading Online a Good Way To Learn I really do believe in reading as a way of building vocabulary, although it must be done in conjunction with speaking the language to someone every now and then! I find that the more I read, the more when I get stuck trying to express something in spoken conversation, a phrase will spring to mind that I have read ââ¬â perhaps in a slightly different context ââ¬â in a newspaper or magazine. I have really stepped up my Spanish reading when it occurred to me that my English vocabulary is infinitely richer for all the reading I do. In the past I would be reluctant to spend money on reading material in Spanish because I was afraid the subjects would be too obscure or the vocabulary too hard. Now that there is so much free on the Internet, it is much easier to do! Write a Journal in Spanish My advice is to keep a journal in the language you are trying to learn, put in all your days activities and also add a list of the words you learned that day with the native language translation and a sentence in both languages. You can also use Spanish printables to help you with your journaling. Put Your Spanish Vocabulary in Motion It seems to me new vocabulary is good learned in sentences, but even better learned in stories or environments. Also enhanced further by actual kinetic activity ... doing or acting out the story or word you are learning. This is why i feel you learn so much through new jobs or trips. So try acting out or doing the words as you learn them ... maybe do food word learning in the grocery, or while cooking. Translate the word, say garlic, then speak out loud (important: not in your head) a sentence describing what you are doing: I am cutting garlic. Every one will think you are crazy now, but a linguistic genius later. ... Luckily I live in a major city, New York, with huge Spanish speaking communities, radio and TV. For those who dont and who cant take trips to immerse themselves in the language try this one: I help achieve a level of immersion at home by videotaping Spanish language television, especially news, soaps aka diarios, and movies with the closed-caption feature turned on. I also rent Spanish language movies and turn on the English subtitles, then rent English-language movies and turn on the Spanish subtitles. I hunker in with a dictionary and a cup of tea and enjoy the ride. Be Brave Mostly its practice, practice, practice speaking, especially with native speakers. Be bold and unafraid to make mistakes and tell your Spanish friends (victims?) to correct every one. Because I am already fluent in one Romance language and read Spanish reasonably well, my teacher concentrates on getting me to talk about things that interest me, and we work on my weaknesses. Try to make it fun, dont get too serious. You need to make the time you spend in Spanish, with Spanish people, something you enjoy and look forward to, and this will become easier as you get to know them in their native language. You will make very rapid progress this way. If you have a skill, such as playing an instrument or a sport or game that your Spanish friend(s) would like to learn, then its good idea to offer to teach them, or if you know a Spanish speaker who wants to improve his or her English, try doing half an hour each day. The sharing of the learning process makes the whole thing much more fun for bo th sides, and somehow the vocabulary is locked in better. Learning a new language requires making a complete clown of yourself on a regular basis, but its worth it.

Career Counseling Theory Paper - 1723 Words
Career Counseling Theories: Individuals with Substance Use Disorders The words ââ¬Å"career counselingâ⬠and ââ¬Å"substance abuse treatmentâ⬠on the surface appear as two completely isolated areas, with little interconnection. CAVSE in a way mirrors the Transtheoretical Model, in that it is a stage-based approach, that can be operated linear and revolving, or non-linear in nature. Communication represents the beginning, where personal reflection occurs and needs are identified. Analysis reflects a stage of investigation and gathering of needed information, especially if a particular path has been discussed. Synthesis involves developing a set of realistic options to move forward, while valuing narrows those options based on the clientââ¬â¢s worldviews. Finally, execution is seen as final planning for and the actual implementation of a selected option (Bullock-Yowell et Al., 2014; Shoffner Creager, Deacon, 2012). The main objective of the supply chain management is to satisfy the end customers and each of the operations in the supply chain management has to properly satisfy the customers. Objectives of Supply Chain There are different requirements of the supply chain management that includes proper meeting of the requirements of the end customers. There are five operations performance objectives that are as follows: Firstly, the quality has to be properly maintained when it reaches the customers as this is quality performance function of each and every operation in the chain. The different kinds of error in each and every stage of the supply chain have the ability to multiply the effect on the service that is provided to the end customers (Beske and Seuring 2014). Therefore, it is the responsibility of the suppliers to perform better as this will help in achieving high supply chain management and satisfy the end customers as well. Secondly, the speed is another objective in the supply chain management wherein the customers are required to be served first and meet the requirements of the customer as well (Brindley 2017). Thirdly, the flexibility is essential in the supply chain planning and control as this will help in providing ability to cope up with different disturbances and changes. This is also termed as agility in the supply chain management. The supply chains that are agile in nature are flexible sufficiently as this copes up with changes either in the form of nature of customer demands or according to operation capabilities within the operation (Brandenburg eta l. 2014). Lastly, the cost is essential objective of the supply chain management wherein it includes cost of finding appropriate suppliers, monitoring proper performance of the suppliers and holding inventories as well (Christopher 2017). Supply chain Planning and control system A proper planning and control system is required and is essential in nature for different companies that include JIT and MRP systems. In different businesses, there are different requirements of supply chain management that has to be followed as this will help in providing right kind of services to the customers (Monczka et al. 2015). JIT is a pull system that helps in providing good quality products to the customers and this will help in achieving cost effective production as well. JIT is an ideal system for the industry that deals with food and beverages. JIT helps in reducing the waste of the lead time that takes place in warehouses; it helps in increasing the flexibility in the entire process and provides proper quality products to the customers as well (Wisner, Tan and Leong 2014). Furthermore, there is an appropriate system of structure for the downstream supply chain activities that helps in moving the product to the end customers. In different companies, raw materials need to be properly supplied by extractor in exact amounts to manufacturer. This is the duty of the manufacturers to produce different kind of innovative products and moves to the distributor who are the ones to deliver it to the retailer (Seuring 2013). The supply chain planning and control can be explained with the help of a diagram: Proper selection of supplier The companies need to appropriately choose the suppliers that should properly involve trading off attributes that are alternative in nature (Ellram and Cooper 2014). The demand management is defined as the proper identification of the orders of the customers as well as making forecasting sales that are accurate in nature. The different companies need to response to the orders of the customers that is efficient and effective in nature. Supply chain management helps in boosting the customer service as the customers expect that the orders should be delivered to them in the right time at the right place. Proper supply chain planning and control helps in decreasing the cost of purchasing as well as the cost of production. The different businesses have to properly develop the core competencies as this will help in distinguishing themselves from other competitors in the market. In order to create a proper competitive advantage, it is essential in nature for the companies to divert the resources and focus on their tasks that can be best performed by them. The supply chain management has allowed the companies in the competitive world to rethink the entire operation as well as restructure it properly as this will help them in focusing on the core competencies as well as outsource the processes that are not included within the competencies of the company. Supply Chain Management helps the companies in setting up their own competencies in the competitive world and this will not have any impact on the positioning in the market as well. SCM has properly allowed business to acquire both productivity and competitive advantage and there are different strategies that have been applied for reducing the cost as well as improving the services provided to the customers. The advantage that is related to productivity helps in providing lower profile of cost as well as value advantage as this provides proper product offering as well as competitive offerings. With the help of maximizing the added value, more innovation is added to the product as well as the entire process. With proper usage of the supply chain management, it helps in improving the product life cycle and this changes the norms of traditional offerings as well. With the proper implementation of Supply Chain Management Planning and Control, accepted offerings by the industry to the dif ferent customers would be variety of different products that are catered to market segments as well as preferences of the customers. Conclusion Therefore, it can be inferred that proper planning and control system is essential for different kinds of business organizations as this helps in increasing the competitive advantage and maximize the profitability along with level of inventory. Supply Chain Management is a dynamic system that helps in integration of each process effectively as this helps in fulfilling the objectives of the organization and drives the organization in reaching perfect performance in the future. Furthermore, MRP and JIT are the different systems that can be used by the different companies in order to run the business smoothly without any kind of interruption in the whole system. Therefore, these are the systems that can control as well as plan different stages in the process of manufacturing and this makes proper adjustments wherein it is required by the companies. The Supply Chain Management Planning and Control helps in reducing the distribution costs, helps in reducing lead time consumptions as well as reach high quality in the production. Saving Private Ryan Essays (529 words) - Cinema Of The United States
Saving Private Ryan In critiquing Steven Spielberg's movie Saving Private Ryan, I realized that you can not base a move only on realism. A good movie has got to have some kind of character or formalism to carry the viewer through these realistic scenes. Spielberg not only uses these tools but also showed stereotyped images in his characters. In my critique I wish to point out some uses of realism, formalism, and stereotypes in the movie Saving Private Ryan. In my eyes Saving Private Ryan is a masterpiece. Even though the movie is nearly three hours in length, it is evenly distributed and takes on a powerful subject. Private Ryan wasn't merely another war movie, I really felt it caught the soul of war. The film begins with a half-hour sequence of the landings at Normandy on D-Day. Many films have portrayed this D-Day scene, but have failed to me in realism. In Private Ryan, realism portrayed in a nearly exact replica of war. To achieve this Steven Spielberg displayed the battle scenes, as the next step could be the moment of death. Limbs are blown off in mid-shot; guts splay out of uniforms and onto the sandy beach; soldier in mid-sentence are startled by bullet holes blossoming on their foreheads. Bloods sticks to the lens of the camera. In doing so Spielberg mastered the opening of Saving Private Ryan as far as realism. Roberts 2 The D-Day sequence actually has nothing to do with the story of Saving Private Ryan. Formalism kicks in when Miller and what's left of his small platoon receive orders to retrieve a private Ryan (Matt Damon) from somewhere on the forward line in France. Ryan's brothers have all died in combat in the last week, and General wants to pull the private back to the states, to spare Mrs. Ryan the heartbreak of having all of her boys killed in action. Never have I seen a documentary that made a box office hit solely on realism so I feel Spielberg's plot was well worth wild. Not only did I see realism and formalism in Saving Private Ryan but Spielberg's platoon of men consisted of the usual melting-pot collection of stereotypes. The loyal meat-and-potatoes sergeant, loudmouth Brooklyn-Irish critic, combat virgin, wisecracking Jew, big-hearted Italian, bible-quoting sharpshooter. Although, Tom Hanks goes against stereotype in this movie. Captains are usually portrayed as rock-hard and without emotion. In this movie, Tom Hanks shows a very caring and calm portrayal of a military captain. As a platoon movie, Saving Private Ryan is engrossing, with some sharply written conversation and brilliantly executed scenes of danger and violence. Although I feel this movie is reaching for a grander scale, as an attempt to make the war movie more realistic and less Hollywood-ized, Private Ryan is often shockingly effective. There are moments in this film where I thought, what was about to happen couldn't happen in a Hollywood movie, let alone a Steven Spielberg movie and then, unbelievably, it happens. All and all, I Roberts 3 loved every hour of Saving Private Ryan. Seeing this movie after a few Cinema Appreciation classes I seem to have caught things that would have other wise been looked over. Such as, realism, formalism, and stereotypes to which built a good foundation and created a good movie.

The Enlightened Views of J. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur Essays
The Enlightened Views of J. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur Essays The Enlightened Views of J. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur Paper The Enlightened Views of J. Hector St. John de Crevecoeur Paper Essay Topic: Letters From an american Farmer Letters from an American Farmer is an excellent example of how a New World American thinks about the many changes occurring and that have occurred during the era of Enlightenment. Crevecoeurââ¬â¢s essay is an enlightened perspective that shows how the people of that time are feeling about being a part of the new world and its current workings. Although the writer is originally from Normandy, and later Canada, he seems to truly grasp the changes in American society and how vastly different it is from Europe. Crevecoeur explains that America is a literal melting pot for people of all religions. He states that ââ¬Å"the Americans become as to religion what they are as a country, allied to allâ⬠. When Crevecoeur describes the religions of the nation he makes note of the fact that even if the people of a certain ââ¬Å"sectâ⬠do not practice the same religion as the newcomers, that ââ¬Å"neither the government nor any other power interferesâ⬠, showing the great tolerance that America has for all. The ââ¬Å"indifferenceâ⬠of America is quite different from the way society is in Europe during the 1700-1800ââ¬â¢s. During the Enlightenment the people of America appear to come to the realization that although religions may be different in some ways, they are also similar in others. The social class divisions in America during the Enlightenment are also quite different than that of Europe. ââ¬Å"It is not composed, as in Europe, of great lords who posses everything, and of a herd of people who have nothingâ⬠. During the period of enlightenment the people of America came to realize that if they work hard enough that what they earn is for them to keep. There are no Kings or Dictators ruling the lower class. There is a huge amount of personal and financial freedom to be gained in American during this time. Crevecoeur states that ââ¬Å"each person works for himselfâ⬠. American became a class-less society during the Enlightenment period where each individual was allowed as much room to grow as needed. The Enlightenment was a period of much intellectual and social growth. The way the American people looked at the world around them had changed. During the Enlightenment the American people started to believe that all men were free people, that religion and science go hand in hand, and that the government didnââ¬â¢t have to be in complete control to still be effective. America became a very fair and equal country where the poor could prosper and ââ¬Å"receive ample reward from the fruits of their laborsâ⬠.

Business law report kamaran - Essay Example Rarely do individuals have sufficient bargaining power of their own. Once the terms of employment start rolling, the contractual obligations of the employee are widened by standard terms assumed by courts and employment tribunals to be implied in all employment contracts. By definition, employment contract is the accord between an employer and employee which helps to facilitate smooth relations between the two parties. The contract of employment ought to have specific contents failure to which it might be declared null and void. More often than not, an employment contract must contain: the names of employer and employee; the date when employment began; the scale, rate, and method of calculating remuneration; the pay intervals; pensions scheme details; terms and conditions of hours of work; sickness and incapacity details and entitlements; holiday entitlements; notice entitlement; the expected place of work and address of the employers; job title or brief description of the work; any collective agreements affecting the employment; any grievance and disciplinary rules applicable to the employee; and details of any work abroad lasting more than one month. The employee must be notified of there are changes on the provisions mentioned as soon as they are enacted (Vettori 2007). Companies ought to afford a legal environment that provides managers and directors with maximum protection. Todayââ¬â¢s managers and directors are exposed to greater liabilities than insurance coverage alone can address. A manager or director ought to ensure that an organization, which is the, employer, complies with various legal tasks to its employees. These responsibilities include: paying wages; deducting wages on behalf of the government; providing paid time off for holidays; creating a conducive working environment that is devoid of discrimination and harassment; and providing a safe workplace. Managers or directors who do not carry out the duties as expected by law may be held accou ntable. In the corporate world, everything that managers and directors do is open to criticism mainly by those people their actions and decisions as being negative. Corporate governance often requires managers and directors to balance the competing interests of various company constituents. Therefore, managers and directors are required to conform to the duty of obedience; whereby, their own conduct and the corporationââ¬â¢s activities are applicable to specific statutes and the corporate charter. As a result, managers and directors are liable if they cause a corporate decision that is considered to be illegal. Nevertheless, the business judgment rule protects managers and directors who make knowledgeable and unbiased business decisions without any form of ill will. However, this rule does not apply at all a judgment has yet to be issued. This is often the case when the manager or director fails to act (Holland 2013). In the United Kingdom, the exchange of goods and services is g overned by contract law. Therefore, problems that are related to interpreting, assenting, and use of contracts in international transactions may be harmful to the proper running of the internal market. The conduct of business in the United Kingdom is governed by the European law which deals with the conduct and relations between nation-states and international organizations, as well as some of their relations with persons (Pace 2011). Unlike domestic law, European law generally cannot be enforced. Consequently, European courts do not have

Religion Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 5
Religion - Essay Example Confucius believes that the basis of a unified, stable, and enduring social order is not based on nature spirits, like God, but on the rituals that lie in Zhou religion. He further asserts that these rituals do not entail making sacrifices to ask for godââ¬â¢s blessings, but are ceremonies performed by humankind, who entails cultured and civilized patterns of behavior created through the generation of manââ¬â¢s wisdom Adogame & Shankar 146). This notion contradicts the beliefs of other religion such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which believes in making sacrifices to please their God, who is a supreme natural being. It is possible to syncretize these religions with Confucianism since they also provide moral guidelines on how believers should conduct themselves, in the society. However, the Jewish beliefs (Judaism) are more difficult to syncretize with Confucianism teachings than religions. This is because Judaism brings God down to humankind while Confucianism brings the ideas of Chinese philosophy down to the people (Adogame & Shankar 146). While Confucianism teachers that people should respect their ancestors, the Jewish believe that there is no considerable relationship between people and ancestors and that there is a single God, who created them and the universe. They also believe that every Jew has a personal relationship with God, but not the ancestors. Another contradiction is that Confucianism teaches tha t good moral behaviors are self-inculcated while Jews believe that good morals are God given virtues, which depends on an individualââ¬â¢s belief and trust on Him (Adogame & Shankar

Determining sample size Essay Example for Free
Determining sample size Essay Another five days of data was collected to add to the first 10 days of data having a total of 15 days of observation. The following are the text thread data obtained for a total of 15 days. A larger sample is now present for the analysis of the text thread that I have for 15 days. A large sample is really important in statistics. As the sample become larger, the data will approach the data of the whole population. The data will become as close to the real data (Israel, 2009). For example, the mean number of hours at work for the population of workers in United States is 8 hours. The sample mean of 50 workers 7. 5 hours. As the sample size increases, it is possible that the sample mean will become closer to the mean of the population. In this case, why should one use samples instead of the population? Or, why use large samples instead? Certain reasons are given to support the use of samples instead of very large samples or the population itself. One of the common reasons is population are sometimes infinite. When one speaks of infinite population, it means that one cannot actually count the total number of the members of the population. Another reason is time constraints; one cannot collect data for a very large sample or the whole population because there are certain time limitations. After having 15 samples, the mean for the 15 text threads were computed. The mean obtained from the 15 sample is 8. 2 threads per day. The mean for the 15 sample is less than the mean obtained for the data when there are only 10 observations included in the sample. The current sample of 15 observations is still insufficient in order to conclude something from the population. One still cannot determine whether the sample is already sufficient. Sufficient sample size can be determined through formula and different assessments such as the precision, confidence and variability a person wants on his sample. Nevertheless, as long as it is not the population itself, any kind of samples will still have an uncertainty associated in it; the uncertainty associated with the sample is called the sampling error. The smaller the sampling error, the better the sample size one has obtained (US Census Bureau, n. d. ). Reference Israel, G. (2009). Determining sample size. Directing the Actor Playing Macbeth in Act 2 :: Drama
Imagine you are a director. Direct the actor playing Macbeth in Act 2 Scene 2. Shakespeare's Macbeth has been a play out of the ordinary. It was written to upset, and show life at its most cynical and brutal. It is among his darker pieces of work along with Othello, King Lear and Hamlet. It was also written to please the current King of England at the time, King James I. The play is based on real Scottish history, as King Duncan was killed by one of his kinsmen who then became King. It is set within a Scotland in which frequent wars occur. Returning one of theses wars are Macbeth and Banquo - generals of the Scottish army. Lady Macbeth has made a soliloquy, in which she has asked demons to take away her sexuality and have it replaced with evilness. She asked literally to have her 'breast milk replaced with bile'. Having her milk replaced with bile would supposedly give her the ability to do masculine actions. She desires power and starts to mildly bully her lover, Macbeth, and ridicule his masculinity. She talks about a smiling baby and then one with it's brains smashed out she'd prefer this to having a husband unwilling to kill in cold blood. Lady Macbeth challenges Macbeth to prove his masculinity, by aiding her in killing King Duncan, who will soon be a guest at their house. The conspiracy is that they kill the King and smear the blood on his guards, which would make them the prime suspects. Macbeth is next in rank and is likely to become the next King of Scotland. Between them, there is an enormous desire to gain power and become leaders of the country. With this desire and Lady Macbeth's challenge combined, you have the play of Macbeth. Shakespeare has cleverly set the play in certain themes, such as ambition, good vs. evil, disorder and the supernatural. In this scene, Lady Macbeth will rendezvous with Macbeth in the courtyard as he returns from his challenge - the murder. Act 2 Scene 2 is an early climax of the Macbeth play. Anticipation has built whilst the conspiracy has been planned and the audience would be very eager to see what happens, as they have been posing questions in their head which need answering, such as 'Will they get caught?' or 'Will Macbeth become the King of Scotland?' A murder always attracts interest, and a murder of high treason would multiply such interest and excitement. It is highly significant as the infamous murder is committed here (not chronologically - it is not shown in the play).

Human brain Essay
Blood is the elixir of life. Without blood, the human body would not be able to perform several of its normal functions. In fact, blood can be said to perform functions that are relevant to the cells, the heart, the brain and the organs. It acts not only as a medium for transporting nutrients but also as a medium for taking out the trash so to speak. Containing necessary minerals, glucose, iron and oxygen, the blood is essential for the survival of the body cells, as well as the organs. If the blood was not able to carry these nutrients, the body would go into shock and not be able to function. Therefore, it can be said that the first function of blood is as a carrier of essential nutrients and oxygen to the different parts of the body. Another function of the blood is as a cleaning agent. Since the cells cannot dispose of the useless substances, wastes and toxins on their own, the blood is necessary. It carries these wastes and toxins to the kidney and the liver in order to filter the blood and dispose of these harmful toxins. If the blood is not present, there would be an unhealthy build up of these substances that would cause the body to cease carrying out its functions and result in death. Finally, the blood is important in that it carries white blood cells and encourages the healing process. It also encourages the healing process by distributing the white blood cells all over the body to raise its resistance. Also, white blood cells have anti bodies that prevent other viruses and diseases from taking over the body. As a whole, blood is extremely important if not crucial to the continued operation of the human body and its functions. The blood acts as a transmitter of the essential nutrients, as a waster disposal unit for all the unwanted wastes and toxins and finally, as a healing solution to ensure that the body is protected and functions well at all times. This is on top of the fact that it carries oxygen to all the other parts of the body, most especially the human brain.

Being Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder - 968 Words
Before being diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, I believed I was psychic. I would read tarot cards for people, I believed astrology was the best way to understand someoneââ¬â¢s personality and anything with ââ¬Å"ologyâ⬠at the end of it was of interest to me. I read a lot about psychology as well. I noticed a correlation between people who claim to be psychic and people who suffer from mental illness. The example that stood out most to me was under the mania section of symptoms. Grandiose thoughts. I believed I was spiritually gifted. I believed I had been chosen for some sort of mission that would ultimately change the world for the better. It was ambitious thinking at least. I did not want to accept this finding. In my mind, spiritually gifted people were being locked up in a white room. Force fed pills that took their gift away. It was all a conspiracy to me. I spent years believing this. The reason I was suffering was because I was chosen to help the world. It was my cross to bear and eventually I would cross over to the ââ¬Å"other sideâ⬠and become some sort of angel. Sadly, it would be 30 years before I would receive my wings. Bipolar Disorder. So, does correlation equal causation in this case? Are people who possess psychic abilities in fact, mentally ill?
